Experimental and simulated evaluations of airborne contaminant exposure in a room with a modified localized laminar airflow system

The traditional mixing ventilation is not an energy effective approach to remove indoor air pollutants, maintain breath zone quality, and control the airborne transmission. This study investigated potential of a localized laminar airflow system alleviate human exposure pollutants. Breathing thermal manikins with sitting posture supine were used simulate human. N2O was as tracer gas pollutant emission. contaminant index (εexp) intake fraction (IF) assess risk for various supply velocities given different emission source positions. Enhanced removal efficiency (Eff) (from result) showed qualification desirability in improving quality. results that CFD could fit well experimental data found out interaction between plume air. also indicated low εexp IF, over 90%, all which highly correlated velocity. Human’s breathing methods have little influence on so location pollution source. efficiently provide fresh without sacrificing environment around It can be small region quality such bedroom living room where desired favored.
